DBU CodeDBU Code SamplesWe cover topics that have been particularly troublesome to our clients. SQLSeveral pages below this are devoted to a standard problem: how to find the highest of each item in a list. Follow the links on SQL Correlation. We also examine how to get SQL Server to create web pages dynamically. See our semi-dynamic SQL page. There is a page of T-SQL handling UK post codes inside a stored procedure. A SQL stored procedure that puts and gets data is part of an overall Exchange Server/VB/SQL Server solution for auto-tracking. Exchange ServerThere are examples of an auto-tracking system using a VB DLL called from an Exchange Server Public Folder script. This, in turn, fires a SQL Server stored procedures that updates the tracking database and returns the Tracking Number in one move. ADOOur Active Data Objects (ADO) pages give examples of using ADO to retrieve and update data with ad-hoc queries and stored procedures. We also have an interactive test on Windows NT4 which uses ADO under ASP to query a database of questions and answers and calculate the results displayed as a standard HTML page. The database has been migrated from Access (Jet 3.51) to SQL Server 2000 and optimised by use of stored procedures. AccessWe look at the use of parameterised stored procedures on SQL Server to feed Access 2, and later variants (97, 2000, XP, 2003). We also look at the DLL's required by 16-bit Access. Visual Basic (VB)We look at ADO under the VB Data Environment. Future topicsWe will cover such topics as replacing "not in" searches with binary searches, SQL Server tuning, multi-dimensional categories and knowledge testing.
